Apply for this job

Ottawa Region and Durham area (Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering) and Peterborough, Ontario | Permanent | Full-time, part-time, or flexible

Walk into a working diagnostic suite on day one, then help build what comes next.

A growing, physician-led cardiology and internal medicine group is recruiting a Cardiologist at the point where it's scaling. You'd start with a fully equipped non-invasive lab, trained sonographers and technicians, and a referral base that keeps testing volumes climbing month over month. With three new clinics planned and capital already committed, you'd also have a real chance to design and lead new programs instead of inheriting them.

Cardiologists of every focus are welcome. General and non-invasive cardiologists will find a complete diagnostic suite ready to use. Imaging, heart failure, and preventive cardiologists will find owners ready to fund the clinics and equipment they want to build.

At a glance

  • Location: Ottawa Region (multiple sites), the Durham area (Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, and Pickering), and Peterborough, Ontario
  • Status: Permanent contract, with full-time, part-time, or flexible schedules
  • Practice: Community-based consultative cardiology with on-site diagnostics
  • Volume: About 20 to 25 patient visits per clinic day
  • Diagnostics on site: ECG, Holter, exercise stress, echo, stress echo, and ambulatory BP monitoring on GE Vivid iq platforms
  • EMR: Velox
  • Compensation: Fee-for-service with a percentage split and a 25% fully inclusive overhead

About the practice

The group has clinics across the Ottawa Region, the Durham area, and Peterborough. Six physicians currently practise with the group. They're supported by cardiac sonographers and technicians, dedicated MOAs, a clinical coordinator, an in-house billing department, and a management team that runs day-to-day operations so physicians can focus on patients. The group serves a diverse, multicultural population. Monthly testing volumes run between 300 and 500 studies and are growing, and wait times for cardiac testing are held to one to two weeks. Space isn't a constraint, and ownership is committed to launching new programs quickly.

What you'll do

  • Provide consultative cardiology care to adult patients across the group's clinic sites.
  • Interpret on-site diagnostics, including ECG, Holter, exercise stress testing, echocardiography, and stress echocardiography.
  • See about 20 to 25 patients per clinic day, on a schedule built around the days you choose to work.
  • Help shape clinical policy, workflow, and quality standards through regular physician and management meetings and ongoing feedback with the Medical Director.
  • If you want to, lead the design and launch of new services. These could include a heart failure, hypertension, lipid, or device clinic, cardiac rehabilitation, women's heart health, preventive cardiology, or nuclear cardiology.
  • Take on leadership, program development, or medical directorship roles if you want them, including at the new clinic sites.

Compensation and terms

  • Fee-for-service billing under a percentage-split arrangement.
  • A management fee of 25% of billings, which drops as you add clinical days with the group.
  • The fee covers rent, staffing, billing and revenue cycle, EMR, supplies, equipment, marketing, scheduling, diagnostic testing support, and all administrative support. There are no separate charges.
  • Dedicated MOA and administrative support, plus dedicated nursing and technical support.
  • New services are owned by the group, with capital available and an expectation that they move forward quickly.

Qualifications

  • MD or equivalent, with a completed residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Cardiology.
  • Royal College certification (FRCPC) in Cardiology, or eligibility.
  • Licensed, or eligible for licensure, with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
  • Competence in interpreting non-invasive cardiac diagnostics. Echo reading credentials are a strong asset.
  • Canadian-trained, US-trained, and internationally trained cardiologists who meet CPSO requirements are encouraged to apply. New graduates and experienced cardiologists are equally welcome.
  • A collaborative style and comfort working in a multicultural clinical setting.

Why this role

  • There's no build-out period, because the full diagnostic suite and trained staff are already in place.
  • The overhead is fully inclusive, so there are no surprise equipment, billing, or lease fees, and the rate improves as your commitment grows.
  • Three new clinics with committed capital give you a rare chance to build programs from the start.
  • The management team handles scheduling, referrals, intake, billing, HR, and operations.
  • The group builds the schedule around you, not the other way around.
